Yay for my pump!!!

Just got back from my endo - hba1c 7.1!!! The best I've had in 6 years and down from 8.0 in December before I started pumping! Why didn't I start sooner?
A question for those pumping for a few years - is this a sustainable benefit of pumping? Are your hba1cs better as a general rule?
My endo says my numbers are "lovely!". Gotta be happy with that!

Well done Cheryl! That is awesome. I have found a huge and consistent change to my HBA1cs since being on the pump (started 3 years ago). It makes things so much easier to monitor.
So happy for you!

Yep, better a1cs with less effort and fewer hypos-the pump is great.

Fantastic news. My HbA1c also went from 8 something to 7.2 in my first 2 months on the pump. I am actually excited to get my next blood tests.

Awesome work! I bet it's like you want a blood test everyday to see whether it's gone down in the last 24 hours! ;P

Congrats and keep it up!

Just want to say again that this forum are great! I was so worried about going onto the pump when I first joined. But now with the help of all the fantastic people here, I'm much more confident. These positive outcomes that people have been reporting is so encouraging.

Matty, congrats on starting the pump too (i read on another thread you have started) I'm not too far behind you but I think we shared some common concerns throughout this process.

Congratulations Cheryl - great news.

Yes, I have had sustained lower hba1cs for the seven years since pumping. I was in the 8's or 9's with hba1cs prior to pumping (getting to the high 7s with a huge amount of work). I managed to get into the low 6s within two months of pumping, then fell pregnant, then stayed in the 5s for the next year, and gradually came up through the 6s over the next four years. The past two years I've been sitting in the mid 7s, but I haven't been putting in as much effort. Still - very much improved on what I could achieve prior to the pump. The highest hba1c I've had in nearly 8 years has been 8.1%, and that was a one off (and also coincided with IVF treatment and Christmas). So I'm pretty happy with it. Everyone is different but it has been a very positive step for me.

Hope it continues to go really well for you.

Thanks for all your replies - I feel really encouraged by your great results. I know it's a bit sad but I really am looking forward to the next test & hope the trend continues! It's strange to feel good about D - makes up a bit for all the crappy times :)
