Melbournians

Postby 2High » Mon Sep 11, 2006 10:23 pm

Okay, Melbournians!!
I've had a post in "meet" for a little while trying to find out if any of you would like to meet up soon for something cas... bbq in the park, that sort of thing. HOWEVER, popular belief is that very few of us remember to look in "Meet", so a very clever person (thanks Cateb!!) suggested posting here for a couple of days, see if anyone is interested? Dates, thinking maybe late Oct / early Nov, and something cas as I said, bring along other half, kids, whoever. Suggestions definitely welcome!!!

Perhaps you could meet up at the Walk for the Cure, like some of the Sydney-ites are? I'm planning on doing the walk at this stage...

I was thinking of this as something seperate, just a completely casual no worries, bbq in the park (or similar).

Who from Melb is walking though?? I've got a team of family and friends together...

i'm walking. our team is 'haemogoblins'.

still, i'd be keen for a bbq, or noodles, or something...

Great team name, squorkle!! We're a bit more boring, its a lot of my friends from church, so we named ourselves "NewHope"... we're walking toward a NewHope for Diabetes...

I've got a family team together we're called the jelly beans! I know a bit lame but didn't really have time to think about it i wanted to register straight away! i don't even like jelly beans! It should be a fun day my dad is hounding everyone he knows for donatons and being in sales/marketing/business development he is beating all all hands down! Can't wait to see everyone there. Also I'm excited becasue its JDRF not DA so the focus is actually us and funding will actually go to us not T2's!
I'll keep checking the meet section now that you've mentioned it!

Okay, no-one seems to suggesting anything, SO...

Sunday October 29???
12-ish??
How about we meet at Ruffey Lake Park, in Doncaster???
It's a very pretty park, and there are barbeques and tables at the victoria st Entrance.
If anyone has a better idea, I bid ye, come forth...
I'm happy to make a couple of salads for everyone to share.
Anyone interested in coming, let me know here, or email me, so that I make enough salad, and can grab enough tables!!
BYO bbq foods, drinks, insulin, needles, pumps, glucometers, test strips, partners / friends and picnic blankets!!!

There we go!!!
That sounds better. I just looked up parks on the net and that one looks pretty, plus I've been there for bbqs in the past.
Where abouts along the Yarra, Kat??

Okay, how about we meet somewhere together, at a pre-arranged time, then walk down to somewhere nice for a bbq...

If we meet at 12pm on Sunday October 29, say, under the clocks at flinders street station (i think everyone should know where I mean, directly opposite St Pauls Cathedral), then go for a stroll?? How does that sound to people??

If anyone wants to email me, I'm happy to give you my mobile number so we can organise more, eg, how to recognise each other... or we could all just tattoo "DIABETIC" on our foreheads if thats easier... lol...

Katie.

I'm thinking distinguishing strangers from other strangers under the clocks would be rather tricky. Can I suggest some kind of identification? Or a more specific location?

maybe by wearing a skink on your left shoulder? that should do it.

or your right shoulder, if you're t2.

either way, look for the people wearing skinks on their shoulders.

Squorkle, I love your sense of humour... You make me laugh...

Torie, thats part of the reason I suggested people email me, and I can give you my mobile number. I'll make sure I'm there a bit earlier, and people can call when they arrive and I can jump around, yelling out to them, or wave or something, so we can find each other.

Our lovely administrators have asked us not to publish our email addresses on here, so if you just email forumhelp@realitycheck.org.au and ask them to pass messages on to me, and I can email you back from there.
Keep Smiling.
