Hi Dee,

there have been two RC meet ups in Brisbane this year based on this forum. Both have been at cafe's, one in the CBD and one at the Regatta.
A good mix of people with different experiences and treatments approaches- MDI & pumps. A lot of local knowledge on all stuff T1.

If you suggest a date time then you could get another one to happen. Give plenty of notice this time of year. Id be keen to come along depending on the date.

Also there have been a couple of cycling meet ups in Brisbane. Casual get together in August we rode the River Loop. Last weekend three of us did the Brisbane2GoldCoast HTM Wilson event under the Hypoactive banner. If your into excercise then check out www.Hypoactive.org and there also plenty of stuff on RC to sort through.

Did you catch the Pump night put on last week at South Bank Tafe?

cheers

I'd love another meetup. Suggest a date, dee - weekend of 26/27/28 Oct is out for me but I'm mostly free otherwise. Often we put it in the main forum initially so it gets seen and then I moderator moves it after a bit, but I'm not sure what the story is now that we've got the new front page.

Hi Dee,

welcome to RC. I'd be interested in another get together also. Just name a place and time . You might be interested too in the living with diabetes expo on 16-18 nov at brisbane convention centre.
www.livingwithdiabetes.com.au im going to go and check it out and see what is new in diabetes. the pump night DAQ had on 2 oct was excellent also and they are talking about having more info nights.

Hi Dee
Forget about the living well expo just went on website and it has been cancelled until july 2008.
Thats another diabetes expo in brisbane that has been cancelled once again.

Maybe we could all ask kate to come to brisbane and do her burnout seminar up here?

I was just thinking we need another meetup. Should we have lunch on a Sat or Sun again? Any weekend is good for me. I'm happy to put my hand up to organise it if people reply saying they'll come and when they're free.... doesn't have to be lunch, I'm up for anything....

I know it's still a long way off but in the last issue of Yada

"Early warning for our Brisvegas friends that the
Mater Hospital is running a forum on evening of April 2nd 2008."

If nothing earlier, maybe a big bang to meet up before or after this event might be the way to go :)

I would be keen to meet up again Kerry. Weekends usually work for me but I generally need a couple of weeks notice! Thanks for offering to organise. Anything is good for me - lunch, dinner, drinks etc
Ciao for now, Susan

Hi Kezza

I can be available on weekends to, I don't mind what we do as long as I can get there via public trans and not more than 1km's walking:)It's mighty hot at this time of year:) Perhaps something a little central:)

Cheers Anja

I would be interested, however need something on the southern side, cause I'm from the gold coast, and easily accessed by public transport, I can't stand driving in brisbane it drives me nuts. I just need heeps of notice as I'm a nurse and have shifts 1 month in advance.

Beck - would Southbank or maybe west end be OK with you - easy walking from the train direct from the gold coast?

any objections or suggestions for cafes etc in that area from anyone else?

Well I usually go to The Three Monkey's at West End, it's a laxed place that's good and value for money if you like the bohemian type of thing. and for those it is BYO, and has great looking cake range. Opens L8 aswel:)

Three Monkeys is great - could also go to Lock n Load or Satchmo's or Spoon - all on Boundary Street. Not too far from the train station either. Count me in for sure!!

Southbank is good for me. Just so long as I don't have to walk very far, cause depending on when we meet I'm either going to be heavily pregnant or have a newborn.
I have no idea where west end is lol, I avoid brisbane like the plague.

Hi Tash and other Brisbanites - Hope you find a time to catch up soon ... but on a related topic, you might have seen on forum I'm coming up to Brisvegas for the forum at the Mater on 2 April .... wondering if anyone would be interested in a catch up either Sunday 31st March or Saturday 5th April - needing to decide whether I stay up a few days before or after the Mater forum so if anyone is keen would be great to hear which date people prefer so I can book my flights ..... Hi Kate, either of those dates are good for me, except lunchtime on Sunday is not great. Look forward to meeting you.

Hi Kate,
Great to hear you are coming to brisbane. I can make it anytime on the sunday or after 5pm on the saturday. Can't make the forum on the 2nd which I am really disappointed about.

Hi y'all - I'll get into Brisbane town about 2pm on Sunday 30th March and then have to leave straight after the conference on Wednesday night. Let me know when and where would suit everyone for a catch up in amongst that time. Cheers, Kate

Fee - I suggest starting anew thread, either here or in the main forum as where you have posted at the end of this very long old discussion is getting lost. Cheers
